The history of 'Fonorama' began in June 1990 when the
first 16 page issue (A5 size) was published. Since then we have
covered so different acts such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones,
Elton John, Bob Dylan, Manfred Mann, Buddy Holly, Madonna,
Baccara, Connie Francis, Eddie Cochran, Roy Orbison, Frank Zappa
and many others.
In 'Fonorama' we also published the complete
listing of the Russian Melodya label, Polish Tonpress label
catalogue and east European releases of the Beatles and the
Rolling Stones.
In 'Fonorama' you can also find the complete A-Z
directory of the British independent labels from the punk era.
Our Czech collaborator Zdenek Rada provides the details on each
record released by such obscure labels as 021 Records or Don't
Fall Of The Mountain Records. We also publish the profiles of the
world's most influential phonographic labels - Columbia, DECCA,
EMI, Harvest, Parlophone, Rough Trade, Stiff or Strange Fruit -
to name just a few.
In July 2000 we were celebrating our 80th issue and at the end of the year we switched into electronic version on www.fonorama.net for details. It is in Polish, but some sections can be useful for international readers: reviews, discographies, labels, festivals or classifieds.
